I'm still learning how to blog. I'm learning how to follow the blogs my friends keep as well as those of complete strangers. I used not to enjoy keeping up with one via the Internet, but this has been a good way to keep people up with my adventures in Europe. The experience overall has been changing me. I've been learning to live more on my own, putting aside the painful yearnings I thought might always be with me. Anyone I've ever loved still live in the States, so my heart still feels far off, and this complicates what I just say about persistent longings. But I've found that the sonnet is a useful outlet for such longing. I'm a leashed poet, a musician only through the lens of those I make music with, a literati who reads slower than a snail crawls; I love food, but I try to apply the "eat to live, don't live to eat" principle. I'm fascinated with Modern Legend and Ancient Myth, and if I weren't a teacher, I'd probably be a historian. I'm most happy when around children who think of me as one of them. I think about San Fransisco, New York City, Taiwan, China, Japan, and Bowling Green. These are all places I would love to live and work. I like backrubs but no one ever obliges me.
I don't live in Europe any longer. I live in Louisville now with my brother and I see my loved ones more often, only now I've left behind new loved ones abroad. I'm keeping my profile the way it is above because it reminds me of who I am.
In the photo above you see my little Bahamian buddy Den(iron) and me reading his homework. It was just scribbles on a page but it made perfect sense.
